The Atlantic Center began serving this community in Seattle in 1910. They work collaboratively with local schools. Atlantic Street has been there for the children of their community 108 years.

SUMMER ACADEMY PROGRAM

Lacewing has been helping to fund the Summer Academy since 2008. They have graduated almost 100 children this year. The program serves kids who are struggling in the traditional school environment. In Summer Academy, they focus on improving their academics, gaining social skills, and growing in confidence.

Both of the past two years and again in 2018, Lacewing has been able to help buy 100
tablets to give to the attendees. These devices have allowed the children to gain
computer skills and become comfortable with technology. It is critical that low income
children of color can be prepared as well as other students to succeed in today’s school
learning environments. Their significantly increased proficiencies in all areas indicate
that this program is achieving its goals.
